HONORING 250 YEARS OF WOMEN'S SERVICE

As our country celebrates its 250th birthday, NSCDA-OH is excited to proceed with the new Women Veterans Memorial in Eden Park. The memorial provides permanent recognition of the service, sacrifice, leadership and love of country of women whose contributions helped shape the nation we celebrate in 2026. 

 

The original marker (seen below) placed in 1985 is the first memorial tribute to women veterans in the United States, but its size and visibility make it easy for park visitors to overlook. The project will preserve the 1985 marker and reimagine a new memorial that seeks to honor the service of all women in a scale that reflects the significance of their contributions.

 

The national Call for Artists has closed and the Art Jury will begin their work to select three semi-finalists to submit a design for the project. The Art Jury will convene again to announce the finalist. Information about the selected finalist will be published at the end of February. 

 

The date for the unveiling of the new memorial is Veterans Day - November 11, 2026.
